The Wednesday Crunch
It’s hump day and the daily crunch has its share of lists to carry you through the middle of the week. The upcoming weekend may be relatively quiet compared to last weekend, although there are plenty of stories still making noise in the world of mma. Let’s get crunching with those stories.
MMA Weekly released its updated rankings of the top ten fighters in the world. The rankings are divided into six major divisions. Following UFC 86, Forrest Griffin is now ranked the number one Light Heavyweight in the world while Quinton Jackson is looking over his shoulder at number two.
Thomas Gerbasi of UFC.com ranks the top five knockouts of the first half of 2008. The Sandman checks in at number one and Thiago Alves claimes the third spot with not one, but two knockouts.
The UFC will counter EliteXC’s next television event with a program of its own that will air on Spike TV. However, it will simply be a rebroadcast of UFC 84 to coincide with EliteXC’s event entitled ‘Unfinished Business.’
Total Fighting Alliance lightweight champion Toby Grear will defend his title this Saturday against Bobby Green as the main event at TFA 11. Grear spoke about his aspirations of making it to the UFC and shared his view on the world of mixed martial arts in an interview with FightTicker.com.
