The Tuesday Crunch
Tuesday is here and we’ll call it a good hunting day in the world of mma. Tim Sylvia is all set to hunt for an upset this Saturday while Affliction and the UFC are busy hunting one another. Matt Hughes is spending his time doing some actual hunting and a couple more fighters are ready to hunt for fame in the UFC. Let’s start shooting with the Tuesday Crunch.
Tim Sylvia states that he is unfazed by the growing mystique of Fedor Emelianenko. Sylvia tells Brian Knapp of Sherdog.com how he will not carry any fear with him into Affliction’s main even this Saturday night.
This Saturday night, the UFC will give a host of fighters their first chance to square off inside the octagon. Rory Markham is among those fighters making their debut at UFC Fight Night 14. MMA Weekly caught up with Markham to talk about his journey to the UFC.
Apparently, the Affliction vs. UFC will heat up before Saturday night’s opposite fight cards begin. Both organizations have scheduled their weigh ins for the same time and both have opened their doors to the public. Themmanews.com has more on the feud that will begin at the scales.
ESPN’s Michael Woods weighs in on how long Affliction will be around. According to Affliction President Tom Atencio, he plans to have Affliction running “neck and neck” with the UFC.
Yahoo Sports columnist Kevin Lole goes in depth about Chad Velasquez and how his Saturday Night match-up against Jake O’Brien will be one of the fights to keep an eye on.
So what has Matt Hughes been up to since losing to Thiago Alves? Well, he’s been doing some hunting. Matt blogs about his latest hunting trip and even provides a pic of himself all fatigued out while wearing infrared specs. And he really wants to return to the octagon?
