The Monday Crunch

July 14th, 2008

Monday’s here and it’s back to the grind for most of the working world. Many UFC and Affliction fighters now have less than a week to grind out their final workouts before Saturday night’s fight cards. See how Jesse Taylor, James Irvin and both organizations are spending the final days before their respective showdowns. It’s now time to grind through the Monday Crunch.

Opponents often walk into quite a tangled web whenever they step into the octagon against Anderson “The Spider” Silva. Dave Sholler of UFC.com talks to James Irvin as The Sandman explains how he is ready for all the traps Silva will sling his way.

Jake Rossen of Sherdog.com measures next Saturday’s competition between Affliction and the UFC. After breaking down the all the details, Rossen gives the advantage to Affliction.

Assuming he doesn’t kick out any car windows or terrorize any more women this week, Jesse Taylor will finally get his shot in the octagon on Saturday night. Taylor shares his thoughts on his current situation with Bloodyelbow.com.

Don’t grand prix events usually involve cars? Not in Asia. The 2008 K-1 Asia Grand Prix Championships took place last week on Asian soil with Russian kickboxer Ruslan Karaev energing as the winner.

Try fighting with one arm. Marcus Davis did just that in his recent UFC 85 match-up against Mike Swick. Cagepotato.com details how Davis prepped and fought with the use of only one wing.

Greg Doyel of CBS Sports takes a moment to rank the top 25 mma fighters in the world. It may also come as know surprise that his number one mirrors many other similar lists that are popping up these days.
