Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will now face Edwin Dewees an next week’s upcoming ‘Banned’. Nogueira was originally set to square off against Vernon White before White was banned from the event for testing positive for an illegal steroid. This will be Nogueira’s first time back in the cage since this past February. Here’s a look at a documentary featuring Noguiera as he trains in his native Brazil.
On Tuesday, Affliction’s Banned may have taken on new meaning for Vernon “Tiger” White. White was scheduled to fight on the undercard as part of the free hour-long Fox Sports Net telecast. But that all changed when White tested positive for (Hydrochlorothiazide), a banned diuretic. And by banned, we mean illegal and not just another Affliction product.
White was set to take on Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. But now, Nogueira will also be banned from the event since Affliction has decided to insert a new bout altogether. UFC journeymen Terry Martin and Victor Belfort are now slotted to fight instead.
The other fight that will air for free will be a match-up between Aleksander Emelianenko and Paul Buentello. Those two bouts will precede the pay-per-view event which will begin at 9 pm EST.
