    Affliction goes to sin city

    Thursday, July 24th, 2008

It has been leaked that Affliction’s sophomore fight card will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event’s feature bout will showcase Fedor Emelianenko defending his World Association of Mixed Martial Arts heavyweight championship belt against Andrei Arlovski. But despite having the event right in the middle of the UFC’s stomping grounds, the venue will not be quite the same. The Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus will play host to the event.

An unofficial announcement will not come until next Tuesday according to Affliction President Tom Atencio. For both Fedor and Arlovski, it will be their second straight Affliction bout. And judging by each man’s previous fight, the match-up should be much more competitive than Fedor’s annihilation of Tim Sylvia.

Arlovksi took part in the most enetertaining fight on the Banned fight card as he scored a knockout against Ben Rothwell. Kevin Lole of Yahoo Sports has more on this breaking story.

    Andrei Arlovski talks Affliction

    Friday, July 18th, 2008

Andrei Arlovski is among the big names on Saturday night’s Affliction card. In preparation for his fight against Ben Rothwell, he has upped his jiu-jitsu training. Arlovski also claims that he bears no ill will toward the UFC and that he plans to stay with Affliction. Saturday night’s fight will be the first of a three fight deal he recently signed with the clothing company. Listen in as Arlovski chimes in about his upcoming fight as well as his new home with Affliction.

Affliction’s other battle of the giants

    Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

So much hype has been made over Affliction’s main event that another heavyweight bout on the card may be getting overlooked. The Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia main attraction is overshadowing some of the luster involving the contest between Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski and “Big” Ben Rothwell.

Like Sylvia, Arlovski is also a former UFC Heavyweight champion. Furthermore, Arlovski defeated Sylvia while both were fighting in the UFC. The pitbull usually manages to put on a rather entertaining show and the same could be said of his opponent.

Rothwell, an IFL veteran, is known for his hard hitting ability and his tremendous knockouts. And although he hasn’t fought in almost a year, Rothwell has a string of 13 straight victories. Both big bombers are more than capable of putting on an impressive show. Secondsout.com has the full tale of the pitbull vs. the giant.
