Three fights added to UFC 89
UFC has just announced three new fights that will be added to the UFC 89 card which will take place in Birmingham, England. Fellow strikers Rameau Sokoudjou and Luiz Cane will square off in a light heavyweight match-up. Cane boasts a record of 8-1 and is coming off a first round TKO victory over Jason Lambert at UFC 85. Sokoudjou is also coming off a TKO victory he earned against Kazuhiro Nakamura during UFC 84.
The welterweights will go at when Britain’s Dan Hardy makes his UFC debut against Japan’s Akihiro Gono. Gono was victorious in his UFC debut at UFC 78 and will fight for the first time in nearly a year. Hardy enters the UFC having won eight out of his last nine fights with the only loss coming via disqualification.
The final bout to be added to the October 18th lineup is a heavyweight showdown between Shane Carwin and native Englander Neil Wain. Both fighters bring with them unblemished records as Carwin is undefeated in nine fights while Wain hasn’t loss in four. It will be Carwin’s second UFC fight and just the first go-round for Wain.
