One week ago, The Association of Boxing Commissions convened and made some amendments to the Unified Rules for Mixed Martial Arts. The alterations involved an adjustment and addition of some new weight classes and a mainly a new long-winded explanation of elbow strikes. Now, it appears the commission itself is not sold on those rules.
The rules are basically just a blueprint for individual state commissions to implement their own rules. However, a week after all this has taken place, why then is there some question regarding such changes? And the questions are coming from within the commission itself.
How can the ABC (Association of Boxing Commissions) expect states to adapt these new rules when there is speculation from within their own camp? Perhaps the association should reconvene and make the necessary changes before it comes out and dictates such standards. MMA Weekly has the full story.
